The Dunes Of Identity:

Nurturing Your Best Self

“Be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender; it’s holy ground. There’s no greater investment.” – Stephen Covey

The perspective you’ve cultivated, that you carry with you every day, is a framework that filters the world around you and quite literally creates your own reality. The way you’ve decided to interpret the world extrinsic to you has a massive impact on the physical actions you’ll choose to undertake. This is why it is so essential to create an optimistic, productive perspective on life. By doing so, it allows you to act as effectively as possible, to maximize the positivity you impart to the world and to accomplish your goals with much greater ease. You must invest in becoming your best self, because you will always be your own greatest ally against the challenges in life.

“Invent your world. Surround yourself with people, color, sounds, and work that nourish you.” – Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy

This life, the one that you’re living right now, is unique and finite. Having the life that you desire doesn’t just happen, it must be created. If you spend your whole existence waiting for things to simply work out just right, you’ll more than likely be left filled with regret about all the opportunities you’ve missed. Work to become the person you want to be, to become your best self. Encompass your being with as many experiences that enrich you as possible. You have to facilitate having the life and being the person that you want to be, that you deserve. No one will ever be able to do this for you.

“Our bodies are our gardens, to the which our wills are gardeners.” – William Shakespeare

Through your willpower alone, you have the ability to shape both your body and mind. Many people carry around very limited perspectives about themselves, a series of preconceived notions pertaining to what or who they are and in turn what their fundamental limitations are. These preconceptions, these self imposed limits, are typically illusory. Though there are certainly physical, factual realities that can only be circumvented rather than truly overcome, the vast majority of even physical restrictions are in fact only facets of your perspective, or lack thereof. You must build yourself, in both body and mind, into the person you wish to be. No one can gift this to you, you must ultimately accomplish your self actualization alone.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive.” – Maya Angelou

No one will ever care for you the way you can care for yourself. No one can ever see through your eyes, experience your thoughts or feel what you’ve felt. As such, you alone are able to create a life for yourself that truly nurtures your soul. Get to know yourself, take the time to pursue your deepest passions, to facilitate your most sacred desires. Your life is rushing past with each breath you take. Only you can seize the day, be your best self and have the fulfilling experiences that you long for. Act now, empower yourself and cultivate the life you deserve. Don’t just exist, live to the fullest.

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, love like you’ll never be hurt, sing like there’s nobody listening, and live like it’s heaven on earth.” – William W. Purkey

Drop the pretense. Forget about the external preconceptions that have been forced upon you regarding what life is, or what it should be. What do you want life to be? What does it mean to you? What will you create? Unshackle yourself from the whims of others, this is your life. Get motivated, get passionate, start living for yourself. If you’re not enjoying your life, why? You alone are responsible for changing your perspective and acting accordingly. Create the life you deserve so that you may thrive, each and every day that you live it.
