Coastal Serenity:

A Short Meditation On Peace

“Peace is its own reward.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Gaining a sense of peace in a world filled with chaos can be daunting, to say the least. Life will never stop throwing obstacles in your path and these endless trials can thoroughly shake any composure you once had. Your reward for persevering, for overcoming the misfortunes that come your way? Peace itself.

“When things change inside you, things change around you.” – Unknown

However, peace is not a destination. It’s not some state of being that you achieve in which you are eternally free from upset or strife. Peace, much like happiness, is an endless pursuit. It’s a state of being that ebbs and flows relative to your resilience, to your internal fortitude. Changing your environment or trying to avoid the hardships of life may help you maintain your serenity, but in the end, peace must radiate from within.

“Nobody can bring you peace but yourself.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

As you get better at taking control of your internal state, at maintaining a productive perspective on life that is unwavering in the face of adversity, you will improve your ability to overcome any obstacle in your path and maintain, or even grow, a sense of enduring peace that emanates from within.
